There are certain types of bacteria(i.e, Geobacillus stearothermophilus and Bacillus stearothermophilus spores) which can survive sterilization done at 105°C or 108 °C and thereby increasing risk of contamination and safety of the patient. So, various national and international bodies as well as guideline like TGA,UK-MHRA,US & EU Pharmacopoeia, and WHO recommends that parenteral preparations like IV fluid must be sterilized at 121 °C.
